Good Aesthetic Gallery presented the exhibition “Edward Loper Jr., Wilmington and Beyond”, May 19 through July 14, 2023 at the Chris White Gallery, 701 N. Shipley Street, Wilmington, Delaware.

The exhibit included an array of artworks from Edward Loper Jr. as well as rising artists Dakeim Tolson and Jefiah Bordley. The world is shifting daily, and these artists beautifully showcased what was, what is, and what is to come.

Fire Escape by Ed Loper Jr.
As a native of Wilmington, Delaware, Edward Loper Jr. has proved that he is a master at his craft. Over the course of his career, the self-taught painter has always captured the truth of everyday life. Whether it is accentuating the grit of industrial architecture or the innocent stroll of pedestrians walking to work, Loper Jr. draws emphasis upon “a way to see.”
Also representing Delaware, Dakeim Tolson and Jefiah Bordley similarly create their artworks from a channeled perspective. Tolson prides himself on being a visionary who uses painting and tattooing as vessels into his mind. Relatedly, Bordley begins with self-reflection while working through his ideas and applies the honesty of those emotions into his paintings and digital artworks.
Our hope is to leave visitors with a more expansive view of what Delaware artists represent.

Dakeim Tolson’s Artist Statement:
I am a visual artist, a visionary, “made in the first” (Dover, DE) where a small city that gave me big pride pushed me to strive every day to become a better artist, and ultimately a better person. Painting has always come natural to me, but I’ve also been fortunate enough to have formal training that played a part in cultivating my skills; adding to my repertoire in the tattoo industry as well as other personal artistic achievements in my career. Conceptualizing diverse ideas through my art is my passion, hence the surname The Kreative Genius (TKG) that I’ve dedicated the past nine years to building my brand upon.

Jefiah Bordley’s Artist’s Statement:
“Honestly, it speaks for itself… literally. Being my first real self-portrait after being an artist for my whole life, I think this was long overdue. It’s what I see when I look in the mirror, when I close my eyes, when I think of the end. My pieces never really have the most positive thoughts being shot through my head when I create them and this was no exception. The further along I got though, the more I started to actually set aside my cynicism, stop being so focused on imperfections, and just let myself create. I’m proud.”
