You can rent the Chris White Gallery for your gathering. Rent our space for an event, a pop-up market, meeting, party, or bridal shower. Our two-level art gallery is in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, just a block from Market Street on West 7th Street.
We are an exhibiting art gallery. The art on the walls stays on the walls; otherwise, the space is yours.

Rental Rates as of May 1, 2026.
- Upper Level
$570 for the day, 9am to 10pm - Lower Level
$545 for the day, 9am to 10pm - Both Levels
$670 for the day, 9am to 10pm - Events with alcohol
$50 additional rental fee. - Discounts for repeating rentals
An insurance discount is available for repeating rentals if renter provides their own Certificate of Insurance. Also, we can offer additional discounts for repeating events to make our space more affordable. Click here for details. - Free to Shipley Lofts Tenants
Rental of the gallery for private events is free to tenants of Shipley Lofts Apartments. - Medium Hazard Events
Our insurance carrier requires an additional $100 fee to cover Medium Hazard Events. Such events are political events, bingo games, casinos, evangelistic meetings, food concessions, old-timer events, and some others.

Rental agreements must be made at least 14 days in advance.
Full refunds are given when notice is received seven (7) days before the event. Beginning 6 days prior to event, no rental payment will be refunded. Unrefunded fees, less any insurance costs, may be applied to future rentals.
About Our Gallery
Conveniently located at the corner of 7th and Shipley Streets in Wilmington, Delaware, the gallery is a short block from Market Street. The gallery is available for rent every day of the week from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. as our schedule allows. Occupancy at any one time is limited to 99 people on two levels, set by the Fire Department. Click here to see the floor plans.
We have on-going exhibits, so any event must leave the art in place untouched. Usually art is only on the walls but occasionally 3-dimensional work is on pedestals or otherwise taking up floor space. Renters are expected to respect the art and, hopefully, enjoy it.
If you are interested in a rental, please contact us. You will be asked to complete a rental contract and make a rental deposit of $25. No rental is confirmed until these last steps are complete. Click here to see our current calendar of events.
Free to renters are some tables and chairs — four large rectangular tables, two small rectangular tables, 21 metal folding chairs, and 15 black plastic chairs. These are NOT in pristine condition but workable.
Gallery Rental Policy
- Management will open the gallery for the renter and then leave it in the renter’s care.
- Management will return at the end of the rental event to lock up. Renter is to have someone in charge of the gallery at all times. If renter requires more than an hour total of
- Management’s time for the event, an additional $30/hour will be charged the renter.
- Gatherings must stay inside the gallery space. Event guests are not allowed to congregate in the lobby of the apartment building or outside the entrance doors.
- Because Shipley Lofts is a residential property, we expect no noise level to be louder than a hair dryer or blender. Music or other noise louder than this is considered too loud and NOT permitted.
- No merchandise sales, professional catering, or bartender services without proper licenses.
- Open flames, such as Sterno canned heating elements, must be carefully monitored so as not to set off the smoke alarm. No smoke or fog machines!
- Be respectful of the current exhibit: Do Not Touch or Move Artwork or supports!
- Gallery space must be returned to Management as it was delivered.
- Trash is to be bagged and dropped down trash chute at end of first floor hallway. Floors, including bathrooms, should be swept and mopped as needed; tables and chairs wiped down as needed. Renter is responsible to bring their own cleaning supplies, including trash bags.
- All personal items must be removed from the gallery space at the end of the event.
- The Renter agrees that Chris White Gallery agents may enter and exit the premises during the course of the event.
